Mr. Premo's Message

February 21, 2018

To all Heritage School Parents,

Thank you for your ongoing feedback about safety and supervision this year! I shared some possible changes to our drop-off and pick-up practices at some recent meetings and I will be presenting them again on February 28th at 6:30 PM and March 2nd at 8:15 AM. Please review the list of possible changes below and share your feedback with the office through email, paper and pencil, or attend a meeting with me. Please note that some of these changes may go into effect this year or in the 2018-19 school year.

Thank you! Shawn Premo, Principal

Possible changes-

  • School schedule - Unify the bell schedule, such as 8:00 AM - 2:45 PM, for all students in 1st-8th grade.

  • Drop off - Campus gates would be locked until 7:40 AM. Any student who arrives prior to that may wait in the car with an adult. Administrative Contact will be made with parents if early drop off occurs.

  • Dismissal - We would make the front parking lot a drive-through area only with no walk-up parent pick up.

  • Dismissal - We would make the back parking lot a face-to-face, walk-up area only with no drive through pick-up. (Parents would park and walk to the fence to get students.)

  • Dismissal - Parents would have to choose an area and students would be escorted by staff members to their designated locations on a daily basis.

  • Drop off - Both areas could continue as drive through and walk-in drop-off points in the morning for the rest of 2017-18.  (More information would need to be gathered before proceeding with changes in 18-19.)

  • Dismissal - Students in both locations would be kept inside the fencing and released in a controlled manner by school staff.

  • Dismissal- Walking out to Acanthus Road with a parent would be allowed.

  • Dismissal - Students who lived close to school would be identified and allowed to walk home with a parent permission waiver.

  • Dismissal - All parents who have entered campus through the front office, should exit the campus with their child through the front office/gate. (*More information will need to be gathered and evaluated for this change.)
